Lycopene is a very effective antioxidant that provides several benefits. These include improved heart health, protection from sun, lower risk of some kinds of cancer and many more. This product is available as a supplement. Bit it is more beneficial when it is consumed by eating lycopene-rich foods like tomatoes and other red or pink fruits.   • Pregnancy And Breast-Feeding – Lycopene is safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding stages among women when it is taken in the food form. But it can be unsafe if it is consumed as a supplement during pregnancy. This can cause premature births and low-birth-weight babies. Hence, it is advisable to avoid consuming this during pregnancy in larger amounts.
  • Surgery – Lycopene can slow down blood clotting. This can increase the risk of bleeding during and after surgery. Hence, it is essential to stop using lycopene supplements at least two weeks before a scheduled surgery.

Dosage 

The most appropriate dose of lycopene depends on many factors. These include the age of the person, general health, and several other conditions. There is no definite form of dosage as of now due to this. It can be determined as per the individual in question. It is important to remember that natural products may not be safe always and their dosage plays a major role. It is mandatory that the patients read the instructions and the directions found on the relevant product labels. It is also advisable to consult the medical professional before administering this supplement along with the health records.
